It seems that the UK government is letting it be known to its friends in the media that it is ASKING the EU for an extension to the grace period on sending chilled meat products to Northern Ireland. Strangely the EU doesn’t seem to have received the request, but then governments like to get their spin in first. But this is a back down by the UK government, which was threatening to take unilateral action, action which the EU would have found it impossible to ignore. This is what happens when Brexit reality meets Brexit fantasy, in the real world reality always wins.
