This week the Government will once again decide in a review of defence that the British Army is too big, it has also cut international aid, VSO is apparently at death’s door for lack of money and the UK’s plans to sharply increase R&D spending are not working. These are all things the UK needs to get right if it is to maintain even the semblance of being influential or important.
Surely we are "a laughing stock" because there are rough kids in the Worldwide playground bullying since the USA went all introverted for the last 4 years and we the UK are cutting our armed forces in response. I laugh in disbelief & incredulity that we are being so dim.
Oh and just for good measure we tell our opponents our armoured vehicles aren't very armoured so don't attack us until 2023 when we start to take delivery of some new ones. I'm not sure our opponents are interested in " veynights I'm not ready yet!" I think their response is likely to be "Coming ready or not!"
