Wind fall profits
Its a good day to bury bad news, the Swedish energy giant Vattenfall has pulled out of one of its huge off-shore wind farm developments in the North Sea.
Apparently rising costs mean the project is no longer profitable, which is hugely worrying. The UK still has a totally mad freeze on the building of new on-shore wind turbines, and without off-shore ones the chance of hitting any targets to cut green house emissions by 2030 is pretty much dead.
As Europe and America roast, it is perfectly obvious that the world is heading for an environmental disaster and still no one will grasp the nettle and make the hard choices. Green energy needs more money and massive amounts of new investment and it needs it now.
Humans are apparently incapable of making painful decisions now to save the future of their families later, and politicians shamelessly pander to this. They know they won’t be here to take the blame for the disaster, so they sit back and let it happen.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
