Who are the faithful?
From the headlines screaming “betrayal” to the online comments from the gammons you might have thought that Rishi Sunak is planning to take the UK back into the EU.
Actually it is worse, as the Telegraph puts it “The Prime Minister has pledged to introduce a requirement that all new laws are screened to ensure they will not create extra trade barriers in the Irish Sea.”
So no “Brexit freedoms” are being sacrifice, but what the Prime Minister is actually doing is giving the DUP a veto on all of the government’s future legislation.
The climate change and dinosaur denying, creationist, small minded, far right rabidly anti EU, religiously driven DUP, are to be appeased.
What could possibly go wrong?
However the gammons are right about where this logic will eventually lead the UK, as Mr. Sunak said himself, “Northern Ireland has the best of both worlds”, in the UK and the Single Market.
After all it is what we were promised during the referendum campaign, all the benefits and none of the costs. With new border controls arriving in the next few weeks between the EU and Great Britain, the damage caused by Brexit will get worse and become clearer.
But if we were in the Single Market, 95% of the problems caused by the ultras demanding an ever more “pure” Brexit would disappear.
No wonder the swivel eyed loons are terrified. Expect much more of their panicky cries of treason and betrayal. they got what they asked for and it doesn’t work, so they claim it is BRINO and has been undermined by the Woke Blob.
But they have just failed totally, done untold damage and now will fight to the death any plan to make things better.
As Claudia Winkleman might say “Who are the traitors and who are the faithful?”
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
