Slagging off your allies in public when they and you desperately need to have a united front against a common enemy is preternaturally stupid. Doing it when you are PM is off the scale, but nothing will happen.
Whether the UK will now be invited to the EU summit that Joe Biden is attending is not clear yet. Just the fact that it is in doubt is enough.
Just think back a few years, if a cabinet minister had said these things they would have been fired on the spot for damaging the UK’s foreign relations and undermining its influence.
They also would have become pariahs. Trying to take party political advantage from the murder of civilians in an unprovoked invasion, used to be beyond the pale.
Let’s face it trying to make party political capital out of the SAS used to be beyond the pale.
