One of the biggest reasons for the problems the UK has at the moment is that the young don’t vote as much as the elderly and the elderly are a completely selfish bunch.
The government is making it harder for the young to vote in an obvious attempt at voter suppression but this is a carrot and stick government so there has to be a tasty morsel to tempt older voters too.
That is yet another tax payer funded gift to the over 60’s, the delay in the increase in the pension age to 68 in 2036-7. That delay according to the IFS will cost the government £60 billion.
On top of all those unsustainable tax breaks on savings and pensions, property and inheritance tax, now there is another £60 billion available to delay the pension age.
You’d better hope that the young never win an election, what would they do to get the money back, give themselves a chance on the housing ladder, get a decent final salary pension and pay for childcare?
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.

Don’t you think that’s a rather ageist generalisation? I’m pretty fed up with commentators such as you slagging off an entire generation when you would never dream of making the same sort of comment in relation to a sex or race.
