I am grateful to a follower on Twitter who points out that if Liz Truss had cut cancer care to fund her tax cuts for the rich, then trickle down economics means so much money would have flown in she could have opened cancer care hospitals by the dozen.
The declining competence of tory PMs, from Cameron to bojo to Truss (May by contrast seemed moderately human, if out of her depth) was matched by a corresponding increase in arrogant self-belief which was truly gobsmacking. They need to heed O Cromwell “I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken.” (some folk don’t do mistakes, obvs)
The kind of person who engages in this kind of behaviour would probably be one high on the narcissistic spectrum. The delusions, the arrogance (how else can you keep on peddling this tripe if you do not think you are superior - and as with most narcissists, their inflated sense of competeence and intelligence greatly exceeds their actual levels), the contempt for others they deem 'inferior' (although often the narcissists are actually inferior), the image manipulation, the manipulation of other people (not sure how Truss could have ever made it to PM on her competence alone). Although, to be fair, she does seem to be lacking the charm that many narcissists have (although this is not necessarily always true - there are more covert narcissists who may not show as much of the charm) - but this is why I am guessing she used manipulation to get to where she did.
Is she not merely a willing mouthpiece for the malign self-interest of darker forces, such as those operating from Mordor (aka Tufton Street)?

I would say that's letting Theresa May off very lightly .
She was the Home Secretary who introduced the Government's official "hostile environment".
You could say it was May who gave huge momentum to Britain's xenophobic tendency, that played a large part in the justification for Brexit..
In 2012, in a Torygraph interview, she said, "The aim is to create, here in Britain, a really hostile environment for illegal immigrants...".
Good point! OK, May wasn’t “moderately human” - as bad as all the others
