The way ahead......
One of the most damaging aspects of Brexit has been how the whole project was hijacked by the ultras, who then imposed a stupidly absolute version on the country.
Now a Commission has been set up to try to improve the UK’s relationship with the EU. Considering how bad it is that should be easy. The things that would really work are obvious and the most important is that the UK needs to keep its word, negotiate in good faith and act professionally. After that the obvious thing is to give business, universities, farmers, the City, the arts and everyone else what they have been asking for.
The benefits would be huge but won’t happen so long as the Conservative party is in power. It obviously doesn’t even fear losing power at the next two general elections, so it will be a long time before the UK sees any common sense on these issues.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
