I was still pondering a truly strange article by Lord Frost in Saturday’s Telegraph when I glanced at the front page of the Sunday Telegraph. Only to find the answer to my troubled thoughts.
It seems that Lord Frost’s “friends” want him to stand in the Tiverton by-election, as the Tory candidate. Which helps explain why the Saturday column was such a strange spread of Brexit revisionism and hard right fantasy.
It was Lord Frost’s first salvo in the battle to become Tory leader.
If you think this lot are UKIP on dodgy steroids then Lord Frost’s government is going to come as a bit of a shock.
If you want to heat your homes and eat, you’ll have to work harder and longer. It’s nothing to do with government at all.
After 12 years of austerity the Civil Service is so lazy, inefficient and wasteful that there is oceans of room for more tax cuts and lower borrowing.
Universal credit has made us all too dependent on the state. Yes, I know.
Brexit hasn’t been tried properly yet, the UK must slash and burn regulations, force down costs and presumably wages and tear up the NIP.
It is an ERG manifesto, designed to win their vote for the leadership.
Their fantasy continues and the man who negotiated this mess believes he can lead the country out of it.
The race has only just started, what policies will his rivals promote to overtake the noble Lord? They are not going to be kind, gentle, caring, rational, realistic and pragmatic, are they?
The race to the bottom has only just started.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
You describe a dystopian hell, but sadly there are enough ERG nutters to make this a reality. I hope Tiverton doesn't give the mad lord the opportunity 🙏
