Mt brother, a former Civil servant, had a sneaky regard for Michael Gove, who was considered by the mandarins to be an effective and efficient minister who knew how to get things done.
Personally I hate the creep.
He led the Brexit charge when he could have saved the country and stayed loyal to his PM, he belittled the “experts” who have been proved right time and time again and he shamelessly promoted a campaign of outright lies.
The promise that Brexit was all things to all men, more money for farmers and fishermen, more money for the NHS, a better deal with the EU than the existing one, we have them over a barrel, the German car makers, no border in the Irish sea, we will stay in the Single Market and have freedom of movement and all the rest.
He didn’t promise them all personally but he stood beside and supported those who did. The only good thing he did was to shaft Boris Johnson in the back, but then he went on to serve him faithfully knowing full well he was completely incompetent and unsuited to the job.
Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and now Sunak, have all been utterly awful PM’s, Gove would have loved to have had his name in that list. Maybe his efficiency would have ensured a better premiership. But all have been brought down by Brexit in one way or another; and so would he have been.
A house built on sand cannot stand, and Gove helped to build that house. Not a great record is it?
“It fell, and great was the fall of it.” Well we will see, but not staying on to defend an 18,000 majority because it is time for others to lead?
Not a vote of confidence is it.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.

I'm with you 100% on that.
Outdoes JRM for politeness. Better than Farage for cunning. Clearly an expert.
