Of course, we all know that the Tories have always supported the Republicans in the US elections and Labour have always supported the Democrats, but really?
Senior members of the Tory party are not only supporting Donald Trump’s run for the White House, they are campaigning for him and saying what a great job he will do, how he is their friend and will be great not just for America but for the world.
It is a sign of how far they have come from the decent, central ground of British politics, and how long the journey back will be. Because Donald Trump is not just “weird”, he is a narcissistic nutter, a friend of Putin, the worst thing that could happen to Ukraine, a danger to NATO and a potential dictator. He does not respect democracy, or elections and cares not a jot for anyone else, let alone the British opposition party, Trump does not associate himself with “losers”.
If the Tories could not bring themselves to back Kamala Harris then maybe they should shut up. It was bad enough to see Liz Truss lower her already pathetic reputation further by appearing at far right conventions and TV shows. Where she was so caught in the headlights that she refused to condemn violent far-right agitators in the UK.
But potential leaders of the party? Supporting a rapist, a fraud, a bankrupt and a traitor. Why, because he is on the right and so are they, so they must support him?
He doesn’t care what they do or think, he probably doesn’t even know who they are, even if he wins they are prostituting themselves and their reputation for no purpose whatsoever.
Unless of course they actually support Trumpism and want to see it in the UK too. If so they should say so.
I am sure it would be the first step on a long road back to power, don’t you?
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.

“I am sure it would be the first step on a long road back to power, don’t you?” Well … How about never? Never would work for me
