The jury is out.
It’s that nervous laugh that gets you, the “Have I gone too far?” or “Aren’t I a card?” laugh.
When the Foreign Secretary, no less, is asked if the President of France is an enemy or a friend, she says “The jury is out” and laughs.
Well, the jury has had no trouble producing a quick verdict on Liz Truss, she will say or do anything to get to the top. You might hope once there she will do a screeching handbrake turn and become all sweetness and light but I doubt it.
She is playing the same populist cards left to her by Johnson.
She will destroy the Northern Ireland Protocol, she will break international law, she will blame immigrants for any and all problems, she will lie about decisions she made in cabinet and supported in the House of Commons for years.
She will pick fights with the foreigners and leave the ECHR.
Then she will turn up at G7 meetings and NATO summits and expect to be treated as a trusted friend.
She will soon find she is neither trusted nor liked, unfortunately so will the UK. But that doesn’t matter, Liz will be in power.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
