The health of the people
Very little thought is given by the average person as to what a lucky 80 years it has been since the Second World War, but that luck is not guaranteed to last.
We have since the 1940s had antibiotics and vaccines. Just these two developments alone have saved countless millions of people from diseases and illnesses that were once fatal.
Polio has been eradicated, measles as good as gone and a dozen others are under control. But now conspiracy theorists are putting it all at risk, we have had the terrible news in the UK of a death of a child from measles. In the USA it is even worse, with a complete swivel eyed conspiracy spouting loon in charge of the State’s medical system.
Since disease is not deterred by the Atlantic ocean and can hop on planes anytime of the day or night the rest of us need to look to our own safety. We need to ensure herd immunity fr our own citizens and especially our children.
It is time to make vaccination compulsory for all children, anyone who refuses is obviously not fit to look after children and they will have to be taken into care.
Let’s see how many trendy middle class vaccine deniers hold out for their children to remain “pure” and “untainted” by the vaccines pushed by the drug companies purely for profit.
Let’s face it these people think that pharmaceutical companies make billions out of vaccines, that they know they kill and maim children, that the whole medical profession is complicit in this conspiracy, as is every politician. It is not likely to put it mildly.
My local surgery in a wealthy corner of London has endless patients dosing their children on herbs, spices and vitamins because they are convinced they offer the same protection, if not better, than a vaccine.
If that were true, it is amazing that Victorian England had such amazing child mortality rates, surely all that lovage and elderflower should have been enough.
The greater good is too important to let these people risk us all and their own children because they are dumb enough to believe what they read online.
It is time for reality to bite and for government to act.
After all the old saying, “The health of the people is the highest law” is right.

Unusually acerbic, Jonty. But I agree with the thrust: it’s time for the herd to bite back; to insist that failure to vaccinate children or to accept vaccination should have consequences.
And while on this topic, end the nonsense that COVID is just another form of ‘flu….. Doubly dangerous IMHO: ‘flu is a serious matter for the immune-compromised and even more so is COVID
