The health of the people....
Just look at the opinion pages and even the front pages of the right wing press. Increasingly the theme is clear, after 13 years of cuts the state is still bloated, scroungers are sucking you dry, the NHS can no longer be afforded.
This is the end game for the Welfare State, either the country will rally round the NHS, social care and the rest and demand better public services. Or the libertarian elites will get their way; slash benefits, the state and the health service.
It will be portrayed as introducing some much needed free market efficiency, deterring hypochondriacs, raising money to improve services, saving YOUR money that is thrown at the lazy, feckless, undeserving poor.
The ethos of the Work House is back.
It will mean lower life expectancy, worse trained workers, shameless tax dodging by the rich, increasing despair and poverty for the majority, lower growth.

500 people a week are dying in A&E and they see the opportunity for profit, that tells you all you need to know about their morals and motives.
There is an inscription on an old town hall on the Walworth Rd. opposite the former Labour Party HQ, it probably dates from the 1920’s. It reads “The health of the people is the highest law.”
