The comedy act
Apparently, there is no evidence whatsoever that Brexit has done anything to harm the British economy, the opposite is actually the truth. Anyone who points to evidence to the contrary is a remainiac with an axe to grind and, of course, their statistical methods leave a lot to be desired.
Lord Frost was on top form yesterday at the UK in a Changing Europe conference.
The country’s reputation has not been harmed and if there are any problems it is with the EU not us. It’s not the best joke I have ever heard but then look at the material he has to work with.
As Lord Frost told the conference, “Does the EU want Brexit to work? Can it rise above the current frictions and work with the UK as a trusted partner, or will it continue to hassle and lecture us?”
Trusted? Partner? Hassle? Lecture? You need to space out the jokes a bit more, M’Lord. Using all your best material in one line is an amateur’s mistake. You’ve got to let the audience recover from the last rib tickler.
I wish I had been there. They are a nice lot at UKICE, but unfortunately for Lord Frost they do know a lot, they are all experts in their field, their research is excellent and peer reviewed, many of them can actually count.
Still being lectured by the man who negotiated Brexit about how they are all wrong or lying or inept and he is right, must have been fun.
Normally they leave the comedy speaker to the end of conferences like this, someone to lift the mood and guaranteed to get the chat going over the canapés and fizz.
The PM once made a handsome living doing just that and he may need to do so again, soon.
How about a double act?
Boris and Frosty? It has a certain ring.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
