It comes to something when the ONS itself, reverses the old saying and proves the PM to be a liar.
The second sentence of its press release contains the damning evidence “… our Labour Force Survey shows the number of people in employment overall is well below where it was before COVID-19 hit. This is because there are now far fewer self-employed people.”
An honest and enquiring PM might ask where have all the self employed gone, why have 400,000 older workers left the workforce and why do care workers have to now be categorised as essential workers so the industry can recruit from abroad? Where is everyone?
Such rapid and game changing movements in labour economics should be of prime interest to anyone with a bit of regard for the best interests of the country.
But not this Prime Minister. He will continue with his line that more people are in work than before covid because he can never admit to lying and no one will tell him to do the decent thing.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
Plenty of people are telling Johnson to do the decent thing. We all know he won’t.
