The latest round of articles by Brexit backing business leaders about how they can’t find staff, or face export controls or now face even more red tape; make for interesting reading.
It seems they voted for and supported another kind of Brexit, one where they were alright Jack.
If there were any downsides they would be felt by others.
It seems to have come as a shock that their pain is considered a “price worth paying” and that the government cares so little for them that it is not willing to introduce even moderate and sensible policies to help.
And yet they show no self awareness; nothing seems to be their fault. They were not wrong or stupid, they did not ignore advice or belittle the experts or even fail to understand their own business model depended on EU membership.
It is genuinely shocking the government won’t help them but they helped make the bed we all have to lie in.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
