Role reversal

I suppose if you make a billion dollars and then some, the world looks rather like Harry Lime’s in the Third Man. Would you really care if some of those little ants far far below you just stopped moving?

Apparently not, you are a genius after all, how else could you have made so much money? You should be immune from taxation, that is for the little people down there, if they want health or defence then they can pay for it, why should you pay anything? You will always be able to escape to Montana, or New Zealand, or Monaco, you have great health care, feeding babies is the parents problem, if they couldn’t afford to feed them they shouldn’t have had them.

There have always been people like this, people who just don’t care, cannot see the wider picture and worst of all people who get rich and then lose any empathy or social responsibility.

But now they own the media, now they can get people elected and tell them what to do. They have enough followers now who will never believe anyone in the main stream media, who “know stuff”, conspiracy loving loons, ignorant locals, nationalistic idiots.

They are all being played like a cheap guitar, and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

I wouldn’t be a scientist or a health care professional in the USA now, or a liberal or an economist. The new “truth” means you must be an enemy of the people and pretty soon they will come for you.

Even here the trend is accelerating, that is what the attack on the woke blob is all about.

Harry Lime dies in The Third Man, killed by his liberal, caring, friend but now the roles have been reversed and so has the ending.
