Remember the details of the deal
So we have until Sunday to agree a deal, which seems increasingly unlikely. So let me remind you what that means, a deal is the difference between a 4% hit to the economy and a 6% hit (estimates vary but that is a good guide). Not all of once but just lower growth for years to come.
The shocking thing about that is not how bad a no deal is for the UK but how bad a deal is; this is a terrible deal. Red tape abounds, millions of forms need filling and filing every month, checks at borders; nothing on services which is 80% of the British economy and on and on.
The deal is the logical conclusion of the UK’s negotiating position and it can’t even agree to that.
