Pity the tax man
Small state fans are not my favourite people, not least because they can never see the problems that they cause.
Earlier this year the accountancy profession warned that entrepreneurship was being stifled in the UK because government spending cuts meant setting up a business was taking longer and longer.
Yesterday HMRC warned that massively increasing the tax take, and dragging millions into paying tax, higher tax and tax on their savings would lead to a massive strain on the tax collectors. Millions of more forms, tax returns, enquiries, mistakes and I assume more room for the fraudsters to slip through the net.
But they can cope, no doubt they can do more with less, or work harder for less or something, the small staters like the three monkeys are not bothered.
At least it is not as bad as in America where the Republicans are attempting to de-fund the tax collectors, so that their mates can dodge tax.
But we are getting there.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
