Permanent revolution
The British Prime Minister linked Ukraine with Brexit at the weekend, both are fights for freedom apparently.
Crass doesn’t start to cover it nor the article by the Home Secretary in the Sunday Telegraph.
It praised her own ( so far invisible) efforts to help Ukrainian refugees but warned that they all need security vetting so that those pesky Russians can’t infiltrate spies and murderers into this blessed plot.
Linking refugees from a monstrous invasion with the enemy attacking them, is a real class act.
The two shameless and pathetic interventions however show a deeper truth. Brexit is a permanent revolution that can be evoked at any time to rally the voters the Tories now need.
The racists, xenophobes, little englanders and right wing swivel eyed loons. The Tory party needs them and another electoral alliance with UKIP and Nigel Farage or their vote is dangerously split.
Even so no previous administration in this country would have been seen dead doing what this one did at the weekend.
I will leave the comment on this to a better qualified person. Philippe Errera, the political director at the French foreign ministry, who wrote: "If I were Ukrainian, I would feel insulted. If I were British, I would feel ashamed. As a French diplomat, I will not comment on Twitter."
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
