People like Peter
I have no real opinion on Peter Mandelson except that he must be extremely intelligent, talented, influential and impressive; and he hides it well.
I have lost count of the times that he has been the headline rather than making the headlines. Some of the time he was completely innocent and the victim of a right wing media but other times his judgement was questionable.
And in his defence I must add that I have met the man who boasts of inventing the “guacamole” story.
But why when he has slagged off Trump in public make him our man in Washington? It is not going to end well, the egotistical, nappy wearing President won’t take to him and has got rid of one of our best ambos already. He has form, as they say.
Surely what we really need is an utterly charming, unshakeable, imperturbable career foreign office mandarin, with absolutely no opinions that anyone has ever been able to crow bar out of him.
At least that would be a neutral appointment to a flakey nut job of a world leader, not a red rag to a bull.
Surely we have sinecures for people like Peter? Please let’s find him one ASAP.
