Nothing to see
I just love the idea that our next PM campaigned against Brexit, on the grounds that it would cause massive disruption and then changed sides after the referendum because there was no disruption.
They say there is no one so blind as someone who won’t see, but this is spectacular. It is quite patently false and also pathetic politics.
She could perfectly honestly and sensibly say, once the people had shown us what they wanted I was honour bound to do my very best to deliver it. That would still, just, be an honourable way of justifying ones actions.
It would ignore the fact that this is a suicidally stupid thing to do and it has been made far worse by the way this government, including Ms. Truss have handled it, but there would have been some sense in it.
But that is not enough for our Liz, or the Tory party. She has to pretend that she was mislead, naive and weak; but now she has seen the true light and is a convert, pure in heart and soul. All because Brexit is going so well.
It is therefore obviously untrue, dishonourable and selfish. She has risen to the top on the wreck of the British economy, the country’s reputation and its influence in the world.
She also seems intent on continuing to govern in the Johnsonian manner. Which is brave considering how long he lasted and now her MPs are wise to the trick.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
