Not the PM
I don’t so much mind the lying, it is the contempt I can’t stand.
The PM is found to have broken the law and admits it by paying the fine but tells us he didn’t really break the law.
He told us we couldn’t say good bye to loved ones, time and time again, but thought that leaving does at No.10 were not just fine but actually within the rules, which they patently weren’t. What utter contempt he must hold us all in.
Despite all that and more it was obvious from the very start it would end this way because the Tory party members are power mad, sycophantic, cowards. If they thought anyone else stood a better chance of winning the next election, Johnson would be dust on the wheels of history by now. But that is all they care about, the pain suffering and misery felt by those who did the right thing, only to find the PM laughing in their faces is nothing to them.
The ones who stay quiet are just as guilty as the ones who go on TV to defend the indefensible. They put their own self interest ahead of the country just by staying quiet.
I cannot but feel the UK is, as a result, stumbling towards a terrible shock.
Economic, diplomatic, political, medical or even moral, something will give.
The centre cannot hold, when it treats its own citizens with utter contempt.
Who will do the right thing during the next emergency? Certainly not the PM.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
