No thanks, I'm fine
I see that the DUP is blaming its terrible election results on the fact that the government has been acting like the grand old Duke of York. With regards to Article 16 and the NI protocol that is.
Losing first place to Sinn Fein after 100 years of Unionist dominance must hurt but it is not the government’s fault. The DUP backed Brexit they own this defeat.
The more interesting question is what does this mean for the Northern Ireland Protocol, presumably Sinn Fein are all in favour of it, certainly a majority in NI voted to stay on the EU so staying in the Single Market is fine with them and with much of the provinces industry as well.
It is a bit difficult to tell the UK that we must start a battle with the EU over Northern Ireland when the people of NI are just fine, thank you very much.
Difficult but not impossible and given the perilous position of PM, still quite likely.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
