No me neither
A nice day at the Make UK conference yesterday, with one of the interesting points being who turned up to speak. The Labour party sent Rachael Reeves, the shadow chancellor, the government sent Kevin Hollinrake, no me neither.
He is apparently the parliamentary under secretary of State for Business and Trade, who knew?
This means, that he is the third ranking minister in the Department. Or to put it another way the government didn’t send the PM, the Chancellor, the Business Secretary, the Energy Secretary, the new Secretary of State for Science and Innovation, or any of their many, many deputies, but a third ranker.
A third ranker to a conference of business leaders and bosses, representing a vital sector of the British economy, which was held within spitting distance of No.10, the Treasury and Parliament.
It is telling, don’t you think?
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
