I must admit that stovepiping is a new one on me. In terms of intelligence agencies it means picking only the evidence that the boss wants to hear and ignoring the rest, then pushing the information to the chief and his supporters to back up their beliefs.
It is of course the exact opposite of what we pay highly skilled intelligence agencies to do, but under G.W. Bush it led to the invasion of Iraq and the disasters that followed.
But the accusation that Trump is doing the same are wide of the mark, he is far far worse. He just lies about foreign affairs, the success or otherwise of his military actions, who invaded whom, the threat from Russia, everything. And if America’s huge intelligence community doesn’t agree with him he ignores them, runs them down, puts his pet arse lickers in charge and undermines their work on social media and elsewhere.
The recent raid on Iran apparently had to be altered because the President had given away so many details in advance he put the mission at risk.
It is all just part of the Trump take over of America, everything must bend to his will, he can never accept criticism or admit he does not know best. The sure sign of a complete inadequate.
Meanwhile the capacity and abilities of America’s intelligence agencies will wither on the vine, people will leave, enemies will be strengthened, information will be fed to the White House by chancers and frauds, real friends will keep their cards close to their chests.
And Trump has got such a short attention span that his daily intelligence reports will soon have to be reduced to a cartoon format.
Stovepiping is just creating an environment when people know what you want to hear, and give it to you, Trump is destroying anyone who knows more than he does; and that is a very long list.

I just hope that our intelligence folk, and others in the ‘5 eyes’, are being very careful what they share
