The right really don’t think they lost the election, it was an aberration, if only they had waited for Trump to win in the States, they would have swept the board.
Now they are blaming and undermining their own government in its dealings with the next President of the USA, something that used to be beyond the pale. Can you imagine if Starmer had asked Biden to interfere in our politics. What would have happened?
Now apparently we should be sending Nigel Farage to be our man in Washington.
Leaving aside the fact that Trump doesn’t like sycophants but may grudgingly respect those who stand up to him, we are better than this.
It is Farage and his fascist fan base which ripped us from the EU, it is the Tories who are reduced to 121 MPs who aided and abetted him and left us out in the cold. None of them has even the common sense to see that we have left the one organisation that could have stood up to Trump and are now left begging from scraps from his table. There will be no scraps from the EU because we told it we would never need any and burnt all our boats.
Now David Davis is saying that cooperating with the EU is a no brainer, where his brain was when he helped negotiate the deal which ended pretty much all cooperation it is hard to imagine.
Perhaps Mr Davis would like to be our next ambassador in Brussels? He could walk their barefoot in sackcloth and ashes, that is probably the bare minimum necessary to have the EU listen to him.
But it would be a great public service. We need to get back into at least the Single Market now, not next year but now. It was after all what the Brexiters campaigned for, now the ultras have taken over the Tory party and Reform they could easily join the Lib Dems or even Labour with a clear conscience.

Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
We are in a foreseeably difficult position. Signs are so far that our government's rapprochement with Europe, though welcome, is too little and too slow. Starmer's red lines are a pointless encumbrance, and any rhetorical nonsense about making Brexit 'work' was an empty election slogan. We need to get a lot closer to the EU, and fast. The government has a massive majority, so get on with it!
More joy in heaven???? David Davies???? Are you going soft and sentimental, Jonty? I wouldn’t give him a job as the EU’s bog cleaner - and he’d probably be as crap at that as he was at negotiating
