Loads of money
You do have to feel sorry for the right wing of the Tory party sometimes. After all there is plenty of money to pay for everything this country needs and yet taxes have to keep on rising.
12 years of Tory rule and there is still so much fraud and waste that if only it was rooted out there would be plenty of money.
This was actually touted as an economic policy the other day, someone “guessed” that £7 billion of tax payers money was lost to fraud, so stopping all fraud would mean taxes don’t have to rise.
Because you can forbid fraud, ban it overnight, save the money and spend it elsewhere. Now, no one’s in favour of fraud but neither should you count your chickens before they hatch, nor should you think you can ban it overnight and count your winnings.
This is, in fact, all part of that long running right wing campaign to persuade the UK that it can have European style services, with US style tax rates.
It is shabby, pathetic, inaccurate and a lie and it should be called out. It continually tries to set the mood music, all tax rises are bad, cutting taxes brings in more money, there is plenty of money, but it is being wasted.
Only it seems that after 12 years of being in power, the problem is as bad as ever.
How could that possibly be? Will no one ever grasp the nettle and end fraud, inefficiency and waste?
Will no one ever abolish VAT by ending waste in the Department of Ag and Fish?
Can we not end income tax by ordering fewer paper clips at the Home Office?
It is all just another more dangerous side of Tinkerbell economics, if you believe hard enough it can be made to work. If it fails you did not believe hard enough.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
