If that's your best effort, don't bother
Business leaders have decided to act, with all the ruthless efficiency and born leadership skills that mark them out as masters of the universe. They are calling for a “decisive result” in the election so that the country can enjoy 5 years of stability and consistent policy making.
My word, how brave. It reminds me of nothing more than the cowardly hiding behind their business organisations of the Brexit referendum and we know how that worked out for them.
But really? A decisive victory? Well, Labour currently 20% ahead in the polls will take some encouragement I suppose. But we have just had 5 years of a government with a decisive majority and what did we get?
Chaos, in fighting, incompetence, corruption, a liar and fraud as PM, Liz Truss, Kwasi Kwarteng, near economic collapse, U-turns and reverse ferrets, higher taxes, worse services and a government that doesn’t even pretend to listen to British industry or do what is necessary for them to prosper.
Come on guys, how about some real ambition? How about fewer barriers to trade, or even an industrial policy? Anything would be nice, anything more than a bland statement calling for someone to win.
If you can’t pop your head over the parapet now, what chance is there of anyone bothering to listen to what you want after the election?
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
