How very principled.
I have no comment to make on the accusations swirling around the CBI.
But it is very principled of the government to cut off all contact with the Confederation of British Industry. Very, very principled.
After all there are numerous Tory MPs and even cabinet ministers who are the subject of enquiries, some of them very serious enquiries into possible criminal behaviour and they are still best mates with the PM. But the government feels it necessary to distance itself totally from the whole CBI.
Of course, it could have nothing to do with the fact that British industry hates Brexit and that the CBI has finally found the courage to tell the government that. The very government that has been telling every business organisation for years to shut up, stop rocking the boat and live with it.
For the “party of business” it has been and is a quite amazing attitude. We are going to do what we want, we know what is best for you and you can say nothing to influence us.
It is easier to get away with if you send the largest business organisation of them all to Coventry for totally spurious reasons.
Hypocritical, cynical and unbelievably stupid, but easier.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
