My brother has been complaining recently that although my blogs are good they are very depressing. Sorry the truth hurts, but in a feeling of brotherly love I have some good news for him and you.
Only 1 in 12 people think the PM deserves any credit for the fall inflation.
What a cheerful confirmation of the common sense of the vast majority of the Great British people. Why the PM thought he could claim any credit for a policy that has been the sole responsibility of the Bank of England for a quarter of a century is beyond me.
But like “Small boats” week, which just highlighted how bad the government is at organising, well everything, it has not fooled many people.
One does worry about the one in 12 who think that Rishi Sunak flying around in helicopters has brought down the rate of price rises. But that is probably the same number who think Boris Johnson was betrayed, Brexit is working, the earth is flat, the moon landings faked, the Blob governs the UK and 3G masts caused Covid.
Still the Conservative’s seem determined to do everything to secure their core voters, who are presumably the 1 in 12. So maybe we can now look forward to “Tories make the sun rise in the morning” week.
Slogan: The sun has risen every morning since we were elected in 2010, coincidence? We don’t think so. Remember, a Labour government means perpetual night.
It probably stands a better chance than “small boats” week.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.

Your blogs could be even more depressing if they were written from the points of view of the 1.5 million UK citizens spread across the EU, and virtually abandoned by the UK.
