Going ARM's way.....
You might not have heard of Hermann Hauser but if the UK had another dozen like him then it would be in a much better place. The co-founder of ARM one of the very few huge technology success stories for the UK in recent years, he is also a straight talker, he has called Brexit the greatest loss of sovereignty since 1066.
He now says his company will float in New York not London because “The fact is that New York of course is a much deeper market than London, partially because of the Brexit idiocy the image of London has suffered a lot in the international community.”
Most people with an eye on this story have seen it coming for years, but the incredulity of the Today Programme presenter when he said it was a wonder to hear.
Anyone who has travelled abroad, read any foreign press, spoken to any business leaders or sympathetic foreign politicians, central bankers, respected economists or even British politicians when in private they can say what they really think, knows this.
You can almost hear the power and the influence, the money and the respect leaving the country.
Now ARM is going, and it is taking some more with it.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
