The speculation is that this is the week that a post Brexit trade deal will be agreed. Ignoring the fact that a barebones deal is still a massive downgrading of our trading relationship with the EU, this would still be good news. But agreeing the details between the UK and the EU is only half the battle.
The British Government is going to have to sell a deal to its own party, many of whom believe that any deal is by definition a sell out. The last two PM lost their jobs by failing to be eurosceptic enough and you only have to read the Tory supporting press to see that this is going to be a hard sell.
The last election also returned an awful lot of Brexit supporting Conservative MP's who think that their chances of re-election would be fatally wounded by any hint of betrayal. Agreeing a deal with 27 other countries could be the easy bit.
