Fishing for dummies....
It seems like the UK government is “offering an olive branch to Paris”, being “realistic” or even “lowering the temperature”.
The better way to put this is that the pathetic chest thumping of the publicity seeking, swaggering and jingoistic government has come up against reality and it has had to back down.
Meanwhile the EU has found more than €900m for Ireland to help offset the costs of Brexit. How much is the British government spending on the much bigger hit to the British economy?
Well to be fair it shouldn’t need to find any money because, just like for fishing, Brexit was a win win for the British economy. Not.
Political and economic fantasy is a constraint on governments because they need accurate information, proper data and sensible statistics to make informed decisions.
Otherwise they pursue stupid policies which eventually come face to face with reality.
Fishing is just one small sector which the British government has played fantasy politics with, the trouble is it is doing the same for every other sector as well.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
