Faith over facts......
Belief in the purity and success of your cause is not a good idea for politicians in the day to day running of their departments. Once inside their cozy offices and surrounded by faithful civil servants, experts at implementing policy, they really ought to be looking at the facts as well.
But it is obvious that this is not the way of the current administration. Whether it is covid, Brexit or the economy facts are not allowed to stand in the way. Lifting covid restrictions now, when a new variant is on the increase is a triumph of faith over fact.
So is trying to ease distribution problems by lifting safety rules rather than bringing back foreign drivers. So is kicking the implementation of the NIP down the road, hoping no one will call your bluff, rather than trying to make things work better.
Faith only takes you so far, facts tend to get in the way, sooner or later.
