Ethics advisor for hire
Do you need an ethics advisor to advise you on whether a senior colleague was ethical when he avoided £3 million in tax, paid a fine on it and tried to hide it?
If so, I am available for a very reasonable hourly rate, say £50.
But this will not be a very well paid job, as saying NO, takes approximately 1/3 of a second. Even taking all the facts into account and coming to a balanced judgement takes less than 5 seconds.
Trust me I have tried it, with a stop watch and everything. Seriously I did.
Junior Sunday School teachers could probably do it quicker and cheaper (as could any religious teacher) if that is what is worrying the PM, money being tight and all that. They give up their Sunday mornings to teach right and wrong to young children, so they might be over qualified to wrestle with this one but then they are free.
Maybe they could also use it as an exercise to teach right and wrong to their class? It might even make an exam question for the under 5’s.
“Is avoiding millions in tax while in charge of collecting tax right? Do not write on more than one side of a postage stamp.
Meanwhile the PM seems to be waiting for the decision of his ethics advisor, which, wait for it, he has the power to overrule.
Look on the bright side, the PM might be advised that his party chairman was ethical all along and overrule him.
Sorry, just joking.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
