Dumb and dumber
We all know that the Venn diagram of Brexiteers, Covid conspiracists and climate change deniers is a perfect circle. But so also is their sub group, expert ignorers, those with utter self belief that they know more than everyone else and the rewriters of history.
So we now have a concerted campaign by anti lock down idiots who claim the latest death rate figures show they were right all along, they don’t. Or that Brexit means Britain is booming, it isn’t and my favourite; climate change is just weather, it isn’t.
We have recently been regaled with the claim that any future economic downturn will be the fault of the Guardian readers who brought down Liz and Kwasi.
While the claim that epidemiology supports Covid deniers, is a claim which strangely is made by people who know nothing about epidemiology or can find any experts in the subject to support them.
As for the “nothing to see here” Fred Drebins of climate change, their sneering contempt for facts or experts should prove they know nothing.
What seems to link all these people is a total belief that they know best when they haven’t a GCSE in any related subject between them and an ability to claim victimhood; when they are just dangerous idiots.
Serious media organisations need to think seriously about whether putting on air people who claim to “know things” rather than an actual expert is acceptable.
It is too late for the newspapers, they sold their souls long ago. But none of these people need ever be on TV or Radio again, if journalism is serious and responsible.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
