Don't vote and don't count
The former PM and former MP Boris Johnson has apparently asked his supporters not to vote against the report into his lying.
This has two advantages for him.
It is a rather sad and far too late attempt to look statesmanlike, a “Let us rise above this sordid stitch up” kind of thing. Total bullshit of course but that is what he is trying to do.
The second and even more cynical reason might be that he has so few supporters that it would be a huge humiliation to actually count them. Far better to claim that he has dozens, if not hundreds, of MP’s willing to serve and who think he has been hard done by and that he is the King over the water.
If they are not counted when voting, he can lie about how many there really are. He can also claim the all the abstentions are really votes in his favour. Something No'. 10 might want to consider as it desperately tries to water down the vote and let its MPs sneak off and hide.
Their cowardliness is just helping Boris Johnson.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
