Data is king
In nearly every industry I report on these days the mantra is always the same “data is king”. We live in a digital age and information of all kinds is moving faster, being gathered more quickly and gaining a value luddites like me never thought it could achieve.
It is also a very complicated issue especially when it comes to the regulation, control and standards that Governments insist on. In that regard I recommend, https://ukandeu.ac.uk/what-brexit-means-for-information-sharing/ - the latest research from Gemma Davies, Associate Professor of Law at Northumbria University; for the always excellent The UK in a changing Europe.
Much attention has focussed on security and police exchanges of information but it goes much further than that. The EU has a long running and very exacting policy on data sharing, public and private. If you need access to data from within the EU, you’d better check you will continue to be able to do so after the end of next month.
