Amid all the confusion and doubt surrounding the blatantly illegal attack on. Venezuela one seem seems clear. If there were any possible justification for intervention it would be to reverse the obviously rigged elections there and instate the real winner as President, restoring democracy, destroying the pro Russian dictatorship and helping the country back to its feet.
But Trump seems to have rejected that option most likely because the opposition leader María Corina Machado won the Nobel Peace Prize for her noble stand and he cannot forgive her for not refusing it and insisting it is his.
A more pathetic and inadequate man it is hard to imagine, and the damage he is doing as a result is almost beyond measure. Now he is warning that Cuba, Greenland and Iran are next, when the fact is that every such move weakens the USA immensely.
Not satisfied with destroying the post War order, attacking Europe as the “real” enemy, imposing tariffs on friends, betraying allies, threatening to invade friends, breaking international law, giving dictatorships the excuse to do as they wish and promoting Russian power, he is now using the supreme American armed forces as a personal play thing, and betraying democracy.
The damage to America is now irreversible no one can ever trust it again no matter who is in power, but it it the damage to the world order that is really frightening.
China has just won the second cold war without even trying. Europe is alone, the UK in virtual solitary confinement and no one is willing to say what they really think for fear of the Orange Ape.
America lost the 21st century in 26 short years, we are all going to suffer as a result.

It’s extraordinary that so much damage can be wrought by one man in less than a year. The only hope is that it can be unpicked as quickly. Not holding my breath.
