Busy, busy, busy
What a bind the PM is in, so much to do and so little time.
So busy this weekend that he hasn’t had the time to read the report into Boris Johnson’s lying, immoral premiership. He had time to pop out of the garden gate and watch the Trooping of the Colour but not enough time to read the report.
Now it is Monday, (don’t the weekends just fly by?) and there is this really tiresome debate on the report. It might take a whole hour, and then there is a meaningless vote.
Meaningless that is if you don’t want to set a moral tone, prove your integrity, mark a new beginning, show even a slither of leadership, be principled, respect the House of Commons, denounce lying, condemn rule breaking by politicians when they told the population to make huge sacrifices, and do the decent thing.
It is, of course, not just the PM who might not bother to turn up to do any of those things. He has let Tory MPs avoid the debate and the vote.
Let us be clear, abstaining is a vote for Johnson, not bothering to turn up to condemn the greatest political scandal for decades is a vote for Johnson.
Both are kicks in the teeth for decent, honest, law abiding people.
No one is too busy to attend this vote.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
