I have mentioned this before but it bears mentioning again and again and again.
Yesterday at PMQs Kemi Badenoch blamed Labour’s plans to transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs) for the closure of Vauxhall’s van plant at Luton. Only for the Prime Minister to point out that they are transition plans introduced by the Tory party when in power.
This is such an obvious fact that it makes Sir Kier’s job simple, which shows not only crass stupidity by the leader of the opposition but a totally immoral disregard for the facts, contempt for the electorate and shameless if incompetent opportunism.
No wonder the Spectator says that Ms Badenoch is going to have to get better at Prime Minister’s Questions.
Then today the immigration figures, covering a period when the Tories were in power, showed a sharp fall, but the shadow immigration minister claims they are still 2 or 3 times too high, maybe far more, who knows.
A better way of pointing out your failure, when in government, to do what you said you would do it is difficult to think of. But, hey, immigration is a political hot potato, and they desperately need to pander to the knuckle draggers.
I know the Tories like to think they are tough as nails and all is fair in love and war, but this is not landing punches and telling hard truths, it is embarrassingly bad stuff, children do better than this in classroom debates.
People soon notice when a leader of the opposition and a shadow cabinet are not up to the job, they tend to think that rules them out of the much tougher and responsible job of actually being in charge of policy and running the country. But it is even worse than that for the Tory party.
The dearth of quality politicians on the opposition front benches is plain enough, but for the Conservative party the real worry is this, who is sitting behind them who is any better?

Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
And likewise Miliband's hilarious destruction of Claire Coutinho in the commons recently, one of the most entertaining things I have seen there for some time.
