Well you have a very clear choice at the next election, whenever that might be. Not between the party leaders but between attitudes and decency.
You can vote for a party that is currently deciding whether to pick as leader a man who ordered cartoon characters painted over at an asylum centre or a woman who thinks maternity care is too generous.
Or you could vote for a party that gave a British passport to an illegal immigrant from South America.
Because the Home Office has celebrated the world wide success of the Paddington film series by issuing a passport to one Paddington Brown. Whose special characteristics are recorded simply as: Bear.
I dare Reform or the Tory party to make a campaign success of that one. Surely they are outraged, this is a kick in the teeth for decent Red Wall voters, making light of the country being flooded by illegal immigrants, small boats and Albanian gangs?
Maybe the columnists of the Mail and Express, the Telegraph and the Times could whip themselves into some kind of moral funk at this irresponsible handling of a national crisis?
No? Surely someone is disgusted?
Or do they need to be more a bit more normal?
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
My impression is that there is a significant amount of 'buyer's regret' amongs the people who voted in this government. I don't think we need worry about them featuring in the next election.
