Baby it's cold outside.
The UK government is “urging” the EU not to damage UK companies when it reacts to the Biden administration’s huge green subsidies.
I am sure that the EU’s Commissioners and the member states will do the right thing, consider the UK’s position seriously, calmly, with all due respect, with genuine concern and then totally ignore it.
Journalists call this FIB or File in Bin, the fate of useless correspondence from people you didn’t care about.
The UK left the EU, it does not have a seat at the table, it has a government that intends to deliberately cut as many ties with the EU as humanly possible, a party whose membership and MPs would like nothing more than the total collapse of the EU, which is what they think they are working towards and yet they think the EU is going to take them into consideration?
The EU will do what is in its best interests, the Tory party and the newspaper letter pages will rant about how they are “punishing us”, but this is what they asked for and this is what they got.
The government’s only recourse is to launch a massive green scheme of its own, something that is probably beyond the ability, mindset or resources of this administration.
Pathetically knocking on the door of the EU and begging it “not to forget us”, is not a policy but it is the natural consequence of leaving one of the most important and powerful economies in the world. The Brexit buffoons cannot even see the irony of their position.
They are no longer inside the tent pissing out or even outside the tent pissing in, they are out in the cold and they have taken the country with them.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
