There are several problems with trying to label your opponents as the “Anti growth coalition”.
First of all it is a deeply cynical move out of the Trump play book, but he had 50% of the electorate already brainwashed by Newt Gingrich and others. The Tories don’t.
Also the first question to ask is why if you are so pro growth has growth been so bad ever since you got in power 12 years ago, not bad for 20 years just 12?
Then there is the internal problem, fracking is deeply unpopular locally. Will Tory MPs who oppose it in their constituencies be anti growth traitors? The same with planning reforms and less environmental controls etc etc. Good luck with that.
The elephant in the room is however that the things that do boost growth are the policies of the “anti growth” sorts; better education, training, investment and public services, better trade with the EU.
The government thinks tax cuts for the rich boosts growth, it was their first go to policy and they haven’t given up on it yet.
Concentrating all your firepower on a failed policy which is the trade mark of your time in power is a brave move.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
Never underestimate public indifference.
