Ah yes I remember it well
Among the supporters of fracking there are those who claim it will bring down the price of fuel and energy in the UK. This needs to be called out by presenters and interviewers and it isn’t being at the moment.
If they need help thinking of a question that will expose this lie try this: Will it mean a return to the free petrol we enjoyed during the North Sea oil boom?
You remember, when the UK was an oil and gas exporting nation and was pumping more crude from the North Sea than it could use. We all remember how energy and fuel prices fell to zero for decades as a result.
No, of course we don’t. Oil and gas are sold at international prices. Full stop.
It’s a lie, as is the line about it increasing energy security, fracking will never produce enough to do that either.
It will mean big profits for oil and gas companies regardless of the environmental damage and big contracts for their lobbyists.
Those ones on the TV and radio, dodging bad questions with ease.
