A happy inheritance
One reason that Labour may be reluctant to been seen to reverse Brexit is this.
At the moment the Brexit ultras are trying to deny reality and the truth that Brexit has done huge and lasting harm to the UK. It is becoming an increasingly tired, pathetic and stupid exercise, the whole world can see the truth.
But if Labour get into government and start pursuing some sensible policies to encourage trade and growth and improve relations with the EU they know the Brexit loons will strike.
Then they will suddenly “spot” the damage to the UK’s growth and blame Labour for causing it by sabotaging “pure Brexit”, then the trade figures will suddenly be believed and reveal Labour is damaging exports, the same with inflation, worker shortages, the tax take and so on.
They can’t wait to be able to blame someone else for what they are denying is happening today. Those denials will last until the day after the next election, when Labour will get the blame for the previously invisible.
What a happy inheritance.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
