A Brexit success..
Trade through the ports of Northern Ireland has risen by 20%, hurrah. As Irish companies ship their produce via Belfast and the others, because there is less red tape between NI and the rest of the UK than between the EU and the UK.
This triumph for the NI economy will, along side the fact that it is the only place in Europe that gives you easy access to both the EEA and the UK, be hailed as a Brexit benefit by the British government and the NI party of business, the DUP.
Won’t it?
No, they are intent on reversing even this small success.
For the people of NI, most if whom voted to stay in the EU, making the best of a bad job will be spat back in their face by a political leadership which is away with the fairies.
The Prime Minister’s Northern Ireland Protocol is working rather well it must be destroyed, is not a rational policy, but then this isn’t a rational government.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
