£2 million, a scandal
I got one of those breaking news messages from the Telegraph last night, apparently His Majesty’s Armed Forces spent £2 million on diversity and inclusion training in the last year.
Given that the Armed Forces have over the years been rocked by numerous scandals involving open racism, homophobia, disgusting sexism, multiple rapes, and many other sexual and racist assaults; I think they have achieved miracles with so little money.
Think of the savings. The MOD almost certainly pays out more than £2 million to settle such cases, and far more on tea trolleys or ink.
The UK’s Defence budget is £55 Billion, so with my trusty slide rule I can do the figures for you. Helping the UK’s armed forces be a nicer, safer, more attractive place for people to work is costing 1/27,500th of the Defence budget.
I think that is right but it is hard to input the figures accurately when one is shaking with laughter.
Amazing isn’t it that the Defence Secretary had time to push out this bile when one of our two aircraft carriers has broken down and the other was prepared for sea to replace it in days not weeks.
Prepared for sea by Brits and others, of every colour, religion, ethnicity and sexual orientation. How did they manage?
Well, with the Secretary of State in cloud cuckoo land, it must have been a lot easier.
Thank you Grant.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
